Current Positions

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Executive Director guides the Library’s growth, effectiveness, stewardship, operational management, vision, and the sustainability of the library system. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director currently holds a mayoral cabinet-level role on the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office Leadership Team – representing the library system. The Executive Director leads a team of division directors responsible for Library Programs and Services, Administrative Services, Human Resources, and Institutional and Strategic Advancement. The Executive Director is responsible for stewardship of a $29 million budget, approved by the City Council, and the overall professional development, management, and leadership for the 350 employees (comprising 135 full-time) and many dedicated volunteers at the Library.

The Assistant Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the development and administration of financial systems, services, and programs including budget preparation and analysis, journal entries, annual external audit, and preparation of monthly and annual financial statements. This is a skilled professional position requiring in-depth knowledge of accounting and financial methodologies and their applications.


Assistant Manager of a branch

The Assistant Manager provides functional leadership in the department and supports the Manager in the day to day operations of the location, with a focus on employee experience, customer experience, and administrative tasks. Provides leadership to department staff and volunteers.


Associate Librarian

Associate Librarians perform a variety of reference, circulation, customer service, and location support. Associate Librarians lead or assist with programming, and/or outreach activities.

The Safety Associate assists in providing high quality customer service experiences by ensuring visitors are enjoying the library in a  safe manner and in accordance with our patron behavior policies. The Safety Associate will help maintain a safe and secure environment for library patrons and library staff. The Safety Associate will visit assigned Library locations and work collaboratively with staff to identify and resolve safety and patron behavior concerns. 


Human Resources Associate - Part Time

The Human Resource Associate will be the first point of contact for employee questions, assigned the leave management role, and will manage the HR Ticketing System. The Human Resources Associate will also assist with recruitment programs and maintaining employee information in physical files as well as computer systems. The Human Resources Associate will also be an expert in the Library Human Resource Information System.


Library Aide

The Library Aide plays an essential role in library operations by sorting, straightening, and shelving books and other library materials, and providing general customer service assistance as well as assisting with circulation throughout all locations.
